It's a Brand New World- Arashi's Utaban performance

See, I hear that and I think of "Brand New World", which is one of my favorite openings for the One Piece anime. :D

I have been watching the Arashi performance of Believe on Utaban on repeat. I already liked the song a whole lot, and this performance just clinches it. The choreography got me right away, I love that it's sorta... flaily and open but pretty simple. Not hardly any questionable movements (Oh Truth bodyrolls and crabwalks, I'm looking at you >.>) and so fresh and straightforward. It fits the intense/urgent flow of the music so well. Ahaha I'm kind of in love with their little twirls. And the fact that when they're in V-formation, AibaJun are in black, Ohmiya are in gray, and Sho's in silver. T_Tb

The turn-taking in the beginning, the movement, it all flows, though I'm sad they have to trim to just the first verse, Sho's rap and two iterations of the chorus, because the middle parts are so nice in this song. I hope they do a Shonen Club Premium version, they always get to do full songs there.

Regarding the live-action PV, the monochrome desaturated-ness is...growing on me. I wasn't too enthused when I first saw that, to be honest. But after watching a version with subbed lyrics, the meaning and tone of the song leads me to think that it kind of makes sense. They're on the long road, it's not rainbow happy fun times yet. :P Also, is it just me, or does the song really feel like it encapsulates Arashi these ten years? That feeling of being on this road, neverending, but have hope because someone (nakama? :D?) is waiting later down the road, working hard, etc. I mean, yeah, it's standard jpop fare ganbare lyrics, but that doesn't mean I feel the message any less. Especially the bridge with the "kono mune ni ai wo, sore zore ni ai wo" part, the love in my heart, each and every kind of love, etc etc, it just made me think nakamaship (ahaha One Piece reference). :P

So I'm interested in hearing other people's thoughts about this and the animated PV. Which....doesn't feel like a PV so much as an extended preview for a PV. Because I'd thought that in some earlier news interview they'd mentioned how there was a story to it, and this five minute thing...didn't feel like it had a story. It was so...chunky, like there was so much more room for expansion of each character's stories, and they cut and pasted so there wasn't any flow to it. But I loved how the animation really looked like them, Jun made me lol, and Sho and Ohno were perfect. aatash started a really good discussion here about the parts that were shown all over tv but didn't make it into the PV. I'm hoping that there's a full(er) version that will be released. :D

....Ohno's mischievous little "Hee hee" at the end. ♥

P.S. So Arashi and DBSK on Music Station. Who else is excited? :D
