Uchiwa suggestions? (Edit, now with progress pictures!)

Sep 15, 2008 20:52

My crafty side is getting a chance to come out, and I'm working on my uchiwa to bring with me to Taiwan. Plan is to do a multi-layer one like aatash did, I've got a bunch of little binder rings, and already superglued three chopsticks together to use as my handle. :D

So, your assignment!

Uchiwa ideas! What messages would you like to send to Arashi via my little signboard thingy? I personally don't have a favorite, in that all the lovable retards are my favorites.

Ideas thus far:
1) an "嵐" panel with the center rectangle of the kanji being a heart.
2) an "アメリカから" (from America) panel

Also! Also! *wriggles around* The tickets came! And! (I totally splurged, but I didn't think I'd get this lucky my first concert just faxing in a form and competing with all the fans who could use the website earlier) Night one is 2nd floor balcony, 6th row. Night two is B1 section, row 22. That is on the floor. @_@! *___* Still not over it. *_*

So yes! Perhaps I'll be close enough for them to actually see the sign, so Ideas and Commands and such would be awesome. (I still really really loved aatash's "Drop your pants" uchiwa panel, but I don't want to plagiarize.) Anybody with more Japanese? :D I leave Thursday 10/2, so that's the deadline.

P.S. Happy Mid-autumn festival to those of you who celebrate! Mmmm, moon cakes...

I'll just put all the pictures of what I've worked on so far here too! ^_^

I did some research (i.e. trawling around aatash's uchiwa post and yay for google) and decided to go with a fan shape that is about 12 inches by 12 inches. Drew half of it freestyle on paper and copied it onto cardboard so it would be even. And I had a bolt of inspiration and used some of the wooden chopsticks I had bought originally to whittle into double pointed knitting needles for a handle! :P

It was...interesting figuring out how to hollow out the cardboard enough to shove the superglued chopstick handle in, let me tell you. Yay for sharp pointy scissors? I'm just glad I didn't poke holes through the cardboard. ^^;;;

Completed base! Though I hadn't punched holes for the binder rings in it yet.

The benefit of working in a camera store that does a lot of photofinishing? I collect all these random bits and pieces, and these are 8x10s that printed out wrong. The data from the photos sent over was corrupted, so they print out black.

First layer completed! I'm such a complete dork. XD The rainbow looked lonely, so I made a storm cloud for the other side.

Will update with more pictures anon! :D

craftiness, arashi
