"¿Dónde están tus huevos?"
(lol for the double meaning XD)
Last Wednesday was the french release of Gore Verbinski’s “Rango”, a computer animated movie featuring the voices of the infamous Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher (“Confessions of a Shopaholic”); I was intrigued by that western-like animation, so I decided to go the nearest theater to find out about it.
To tell the truth, I didn’t really like the Pirates of Caribbean saga (though the first one was okay) so I couldn’t help but wonder what an animated movie by the producer of POC would look like. Also, I used to think that the main character - a weird-looking chameleon - wasn’t charismatic enough to provide much fun.
But I was delightedly surprised when I realized how much of a great character he was in fact; because although he’s a true coward, he learns a lot from his lies and eventually becomes the brave, fearless character he has made up when he arrived in Dirt.
On the other hand, I think Rango is different from other animated movies; unlike the Disney movies or even Shrek, the characters are less cartoon-like and I think that they have less exaggerated facial expressions.
There was also a strange cuteness in this movie that I found really touching; but the real strength of Rango rests in its humor.
So my advice would be to go check the movie if you don’t already have because it’s definitely worth it!
