"Vile and evil" rolls off the tongue better for me than "evil and vile." I suppose it's because of the number of syllables, one in vile then two in evil. At any rate, The Vile Spawn, who is always listed first, is the eldest. The Vile Spawn returned to San Diego on January 3rd. We'll probably see him again this summer, though he isn't ready to make any commitments on that yet. The Vile Spawn came home last summer instead of The Evil Spawn flying out to San Diego for a visit and I think they both preferred it that way. As do I.

We had a kissing ball made of fake mistletoe. I prefer to not buy the real stuff, since it drops berries all over. I don't want to worry about any of the little crawlers putting mushy, white balls of poison in their mouths nor do I want to clean it off my floors after someone has stepped on it and smooshed it into the carpet fibers.

Does your Dad say the holly is the host for the mistletoe or does he think that it is the mistletoe? I've heard of rowan oak and ash being mentioned as host trees, but maybe that's because of their importance in Celtic mythology and religion. Though holly is also important so I guess that reason isn't it. Maybe it's because mistletoe is easier to spot in a deciduous tree and usually goes unnoticed in an evergreen.

He said it's the same thing...? When I look up "holly tree" in Google Images, it's like that...

I'm confused. Mistletoe is a parasitic vine with ovate, evergreen leaves and greenish, yellowish or white berries that grows on host trees. Holly trees have spiky evergreen leaves and red berries. Is your father maybe pointing to a vine growing in the holly tree?

I thought mistletoe WAS holly. always see pictures of people kissing under a sprig of the stuff with spiky leaves and red berries, not under some vine with those color berries you described.

Ah, I see where the confusion is coming from. Kissing balls are made with sprigs of mistletoe and other evergreens such as holly, boxwood, and bay laurel. Usually there is a lot of holly and one or two little sprigs of mistletoe tucked in, only visible if you know what to look for. It's a hard (and dangerous) plant to harvest, since it usually grows high up in the tree boughs, nor can you remove much of it at a time, so you should never see much of it used in one place.

From which episode(s) do these pictures come? I kind of wished they had postponed the start of season 7 rather than broadcast the first five episodes and then stop. I assume the show had to temporarily stop filming due to Emily Deschanel's pregnancy/maternity leave.

Uh... I googled "bones mistletoe kiss" and got Season 3 Episode 9 Santa in the Slush. Sounds about right.

I thought it was lame how they used her pregnancy as plot device to say it was Booth's baby instead of postponing a year so their relationship could progress more naturally and less like they both had sudden head trauma that caused personality changes.

I didn't think it was as sudden as that. Brennan has made several comments about beginning to believe she might be a good mother for the last couple years, starting with the episode in which she had to take care of a baby. Since then she resolved a lot the issues with her family that made her think she wouldn't be a good parent, realized she was in love with Booth, and then Angela got pregnant. The hormones of women around a pregnant woman change - wanting to have a baby is contagious. So it didn't seem overly contrived to me.

It seemed extremely impulsive to have intercourse without a condom (which Booth should have unless Hannah took them all) when both were emotional because someone died. I felt like it was OOC for Brennan to make a logical decision to go without a condom that fast (despite the stuff about having babies leading up to it), and Booth should have noticed, yet he seemed joyfully shocked when she told him she was pregnant, like he wasn't expecting her to get pregnant at all even though they didn't use a condom.

I dunno. IRL, the urge to procreate when you have just been through life threatening circumstances or have faced the loss of someone close is very strong. Brennan and Booth both wanted to have a baby with each other already. I think circumstances either pushed them over the edge or they each decided to take advantage of it. I think the pregnancy was more act now, apologize later than oops on both their parts.

I hate it when couples get together because it loses the drama and sexual tension. It's more exciting not knowing someone that well irl, too.

People change. There is always something new to discover about them - as well as in yourself.

So far the writers are doing well at keeping tension, even if it isn't sexual tension, between Brennan and Booth. Given the differences in the way each thinks and feels some tension will always be present. I do miss the sexual tension, however.
