The mrs has quit Virgin Holidays. We were to have one last hooray on the co but, alas, all those selfish, full-paying customers filled up the flights to Barbados. Saying that, though, and the proximity of Hurricane Dean would've only scuppered the trip.
So instead, we have a week together to do days out and stuff.
Yesterday was
Chessington, tomorrow is London and then a day at Thorpe Park later in the week.
Transformers
"Robots in disguise!"
The actions was a bit too close. Kind of like watching your clothes go around in the tumble dryer, from inside the dryer. But it was funny and action intense.
The kids refuse to go see it, though.
The Simpsons
As good as watching three episodes back-to-back and the kids loved Spider-Pig.
Mee-Shee
Pretty formulaic and the child actors were rather painful to watch. And the ending was a tad OTT for a kids film but there really had to be no witnesses.
Oh yeah, and some of the SFX were rather poor but the kids enjoyed it.
Evan Almighty
A few too many pratfalls for my liking. A different comedy from 'Bruce ...' and quite heavy of the exposition/morality which slows it down a lot. Also lacks the fun that comes along with having God's powers and just being a tool of his.
Surf's Up
A prime example of style over content (although the content was okay, IMO). The graphics for the waves and surf action were astounding and the story was minimal in complications to destract the kids.
Bourne Ultimatum
Having found Bourne 2 (whatever it was actually called) to be a carbon copy of Bourne 1 (whatever that was called), I was dubious of 3 (whatever, oh no, wait, there it is) so went in with low expectations.
I came out pleased, enjoying the hand-held quality of the camerawork - even though it confused the fights somewhat (see Transformers tumbledryer). And the stunts were pretty awesome.
Rush Hour 3
Same old, same old. But still fun to watch.
Anyone disputing Chan's ability to do his own stunts should watch for the end outtakes when he takes a coffee table to the head. Chan's the man!
Saw III
Some cool, graphic, tense moments but ultimately disappointing and unfulfilling. Spoiled far too many times by (us) shouting at the screen, "But you wouldn't do that!" How many times do you allow a door to lock behind you before you start propping the damn things open before you go in?
It's quiet out there. Too quiet. I need to know what people are thinking of the books (honestly).
