I haven't made any icons for this journal yet because April has been one hell of a drug, but YOU BETTER BELIEVE this girl is getting an infopost. Rife with animated gifs, because I haven't been collecting them for three years for nothing, here.
Meet Mabel Pines
She knits all of her sweaters herself.
How would I describe Mabel Pines? Well, aside from being the marginally taller alpha twin more excitable of the two Pines twins, made of sunshine and knitted sweaters and braces and a love of all things sparkly and made of joy, Mabel is... actually pretty normal. While her twin brother, Dipper, is off running himself ragged and stirring up all sorts of trouble trying to solve every mystery that comes his way, Mabel is mostly just concerned with normal teenage girl things.
Like picking up boys!
Boy bands. Any pop culture to ever come out of the early nineties. Hanging out with her pet pig, Waddles.
His name is Waddles because he waddles.
Sticker collecting. Maybe finding her first boyfriend. Dancing and making friends and catching up on the latest episode of Ducktective. Sleepovers. Playing matchmaker for the people she cares about (and some of the people she doesn't.) Bedazzling anything she possibly can. Just how in the world she can possibly get her hands on that human-sized hamster ball so that she can run around town impressing all the hot boys.
Someday. Someday.
Mabel is the other protagonist of the show Gravity Falls alongside her brother, Dipper. Dipper's a bit of a dork, and she won't hesitate to tell him that, but don't mess with her brother or she will end you.
It's okay, Dipper. Mabel still loves you.
Anyway, Mabel's the energetic life of the party character who doesn't need mysteries in order to survive her summers, but who sticks through all the crazy anyway in spite of the danger because she understands how much this means to Dipper. She's curious and optimistic and honest to a fault, unable to carry on a good lie for any length of time before blurting out the truth. She is, however, extremely talented in the visual arts. She knits all her own sweaters...
I think we have established that they are fabulous.
Never misses a scrapbookortunity...
I especially like her BLEEP sound effect there.
Can make paper hats with the greatest of ease...
This hat led them to discover the long missing forgotten president of the United States, who was encased in a block of peanut brittle, by the way.
And once sculpted a life-sized realistic wax sculpture of her Grunkle Stan out of spare wax in a very short amount of time. Which she then dumped an entire bucket of glitter on.
For the purposes of the game, I'm occasionally going to be using Eden Sher from The Middle as a PB for some icons where she doesn't look twelve, because she's pretty much perfect and shares a canon with Mabel's brother's PB.
I wanted to use an animated gif here too. But then I found this picture.
Mabel has no powers, but she can pick locks with hairpins, and wields a pretty awesome grappling hook and a mean bedazzler. A MEAN BEDAZZLER INDEED.
Blinking was a problem after this.
Mabel will, like Dipper, be coming to Fandom Island from a couple of years post-canon. Both twins will have no memory of a large chunk of what happened during their time in Oregon FOR SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON (There's canon brainwashing, we're going with that!). They'll have been hanging out in Piedmont, California, not having any luck with piecing together what happened after the mid-season climactic episode from season two, and went back to Gravity Falls to try to piece together what happened back there, two years ago. There, they'll fall down a bottomless pit (they're less bottomless, and more prone to spitting you out again where you started a full twenty minute episode later), only to get spat out again on Fandom Island.
Because we're taking these kids from mid-second-season and playing things by ear as Disney releases more canon, we'll probably be working in new episodes as fits and snippets of things they remember through the power of Fandom, in dreams and spontaneous flashbacks and the like. We'll figure out solutions to possible jossing as we go, because the Mystery Twins are resourceful like that.
GRAPPLING HOOK!
As for me? Hi, it's Shannon. You might remember be from such characters as Elsa, Sparkle, Jono, Warren, Nikolai...
Only two of the above are on the island anymore. I needed to top up my dork reserves.
I'm an animator (effects animation supervisor now, I guess?) in sunny Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as such, I'm prone to having bouts of madness where I'm at work for 48-hour stretches at a time.
This is pretty much my life now, minus the clay.
Life has been a bit nuts lately, but hopefully things will calm down again, so the crunch-time all-nighters are all that will be keeping me from pinging around on the regular. If you need me, I haunt AIM at raspberryturk, Twitter at shammens, and you can always shoot me a line a-la e-mail at shannon (dot) perry3d (at) gmail (dot) com.
I don't animate in 3D anymore. I lost a dimension somewhere in there. But hey, can't win 'em all.
