Whazzup pussycat?
So it's been awhile since I've been here - I guess I just haven't felt like talking much. Drinking, yes; talking, no.
So here's the Readers Digest condensed version of my life lately:
- Have a new incarnation of my job. A very nice person was let go so that this could happen and I feel a bit badly for that. Less $$, less title, less stress, less hours. Much happier in that regard. Feel like I have my life back, actually.
- Alice finished Kindergarten, Penny finished 3rd grade. They are both more beautiful every day. Start summer day camp at Girls Inc. next week. Glad there are no boys there.
- Ditched my 20th High School reunion, but got to see my good friend Jenna anyways. Got to see the pictures on Facebook. That's the closest to High School I ever need to get again. Very nice (chanelling Borat now).
- At the end of April Dad's health took a turn and his medical needs surpassed what my mom could provide at home. After some really ugly issues with one nursing home, he is now in a long-term care facility and Medi-Cal paperwork is pending. He is angry, really angry, and depressed, and can barely move. It is absolutely heartbreaking and I am beginning to understand the grieving process in a different way. It doesn't really have a beginning or an end; it just goes on and on sometimes. I took the girls to see him and they were terrified. Found pictures from Thanksgiving 2007 - made a special insert for my Dad's Father's Day card - a picture of my dad and the girls together in better days. Maybe he'll like it, maybe he won't, but I'm doing it anyways.
- Mom is moving on. She works full time, goes to the bar with her friends a few times a week, and has started yoga classes. She's been worried about money, paperwork, Medi-Cal stuff, car repairs. But she's going to be ok. She better be - I will go bat-shit crazy otherwise.
So I hope everyone out there is healthy and well.
