Aw, you won't have to pay for that book because you'll probably get stuck betaing it, LOL. Like, seriously. It's at 20,000 words right now and I expect it may be around 30 maybe when done if not more. I'm not sure how much it sucks! An unemployed straight guy goes to work out of desperation for the billionaire CEO of a successful gay porn studio, and they fall in love. I started this stupid story in 2013 if you can believe it and got sidetracked along the way. Now I'm putting my ass in the chair to finish the goddamn thing.
Ideally, writing for the Amazon market means producing as fast as you can. I'm aiming for 2000 words a day right now, hopefully publishing new stuff of 20,000-25,000 words every two weeks. Probably three because I also have to edit and design covers.
Hardest thing is learning to outline. I don't know what happens until I write it, which is a shit way to do this. I've been taking a loooong sweet ass time getting this going, and since unemployment is running out I need something to make some money. I'm visiting my parents for my father's 75th birthday in early March, and my goal is that by then I hope to have something positive to tell them about this.
I wish I knew where I screwed up in my career. I mean, it's hard to be chipper and cheerful and everything else in an interview when I'm barely above functioning in my day to day. I know how hard it is to try and be upbeat and positive and put on a happy face for an interview, because obviously I suck at it! LOL, Jesus. I suppose what it's come down to is me. That's hard to reconcile; I did everything else right but no one wants to hire me because of me.
I do hope this writing thing works out, because I have no idea what else to do with my life. I have this talent which I need to try to make a go of. But if it doesn't work, oh God, I don't know what.
I will totally beta your book, babe! Then when people ask me what I do, I can say I'm an editor. I edit books for Amazon! LOL
I think this is a great idea actually. Normally I would say like, 'Oh this is no way to make money or get noticed,' but it IS. I have a LJ friend on here who put up about 6 or so M/M romance shorts on Amazon, self published and got invited to join an anthology of original stories, for which she got paid and then after three anthologies, the publisher gave her a contract for a novel, so there you go. It can work! And having goals will help you stay focused I think. (ugh on the outlines though because I hate outlining for stories - you too?)
It's a really good way to make money if you produce consistently and market properly. Believe me, there's been some crappy stories that sell. With spelling errors and everything!
Wanna talk it out, bounce ideas off of me? Tomorrow is kind of an empty day for me, just have to do some writing of my own, but if you wanna talk through it, I have some time tomorrow.
Me and the little woman hashed out the next three chapters tonight! It's hard sometimes to get her to help me but tonight I took her iPad away (LOL) and made her get me through the rough spot.
I would love a beta read from you if you have the time when I'm done. Mostly just a top edit to catch missing words and such? And then when I start selling I could pay you for the next one!

I'd be happy too! Whatever you need! I wouldn't even care about the money unless you started making big bucks on it! It's just nice to be contributing to something and watching someone really work on their dream and plus, I get to read your work first, suckers!
