Why is this so hard?

(That's what she said! HA) But seriously...

Y'know, I don't see why people who have properties to rent don't put EVERYTHING I need to know in their ads. Why must I take the time and call to find out if they accept cats or have parking or have laundry in the unit? Why don't they just put all that in the ad in the first place? Why don't people who place ads on realty sites or Craiglist use PHOTOS for Christ's sake? Don't you want people to contact you in the hopes of renting the place? Is this some masochistic game of "be surprised" when we walk into a place without seeing pictures?

You would think this would be easy, but it's not! I get easily frustrated at stupid people and their stupid ads that don't tell me enough that I don't even want to call to find out!

We're not looking for some grand palace, because Lord knows I have nothing to contribute to the rent at the moment, which means it's all on my girlfriend's shoulders, which makes looking for places even more shitty because I have to constantly face the fact that I am contributing nothing to this move other than the packing. I'd love for us to rent a house and get away from apartment living, but it's too damn expensive when you add up all the little things you need to pay for in addition to rent, like extra utilities such as water, gas, heat, garbage, and sewer. GOD.

I would like two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two parking spaces, room for two cats, a dishwasher, and the ability to have my windows open without constantly smelling cigarette smoke from neighbors who use their patios as their personal ash trays. I can deal with everything else. Ideally we'd like a patio, central air conditioning (because wow I have to come to love it), in-unit laundry, and above all, QUIET. If I can get off my ass and push forward on my story writing, I want a place to work where it's relatively quiet during the day.

I'm in a horrible mood after not finding anything on the apartment hunt today and I'm frustrated and venting. Pardon.

personal rantings, the big move 4
