Things are moving along

I currently live in a garden apartment complex, where several buildings share one central garbage bin. In the process of packing up for The Big Move(tm), I've been trying to simplify and de-clutter my life. It's soothing in a way. Other times it brings anxiety because I'll see something that I don't necessarily need but don't want to throw away.

This weekend I gathered up a bunch of household items like vases, knicknacks, and doodads, labeled a box FREE and stuck it outside by the dumpster. I also filled a box with some action figures that I bought from BigLots but never opened, some action figure accessories, and even the cool motorcycles I bought Action Figure Mulder and Action Figure Krycek to ride on. I also put my bodyboard out there that I've used every once in a while since I bought it in like 1988.

A few hours later everything had been taken. It makes me happy to see this, because other people can get use out of stuff I don't need anymore.

On the other hand, here's the list of things I need to sell:

My Trek Antelope 800 mountain bike that I rescued from the garbage when I first moved here, had repaired, and then let it sit in the apartment for 6 years.

My Needak rebounder/mini trampoline. I spent $230 on it and then realized that bouncing on the thing hurt my neck. Yes, I'm weird. I thought it would hurt my knee. Nope, for a week after I use it my neck and trap muscles KILL.

My paintball gear I bought a few years ago. Everything you need to start playing. I don't have the time anymore.

Two fishtanks/maybe the third. I dunno, I might keep one if wherever I'm moving allows them.

Today I ordered a bunch of moving supplies online. I've been taking boxes home from work and have packed up most of my books and DVDs and crap, but I need a steady supply of boxes to use. Yesterday I sent a bunch of e-mails to apartment brokers.

Today one of the brokers called me, which was a nice surprise. I'll talk more with him tomorrow. I also got a call from the one ad I replied to on Craigslist. It sounded lovely until the guy mentioned the place was under 500 square feet. For the price he wanted that was WAY too small.

So...I have under a month to move and still don't know where I'm going yet! I'm working on it and trying to keep the anxiety at bay.

personal ramblings, the big move
