Who?

I've disappeared.

If it's not on the Internet, it doesn't exists, right?

As I get older, time seems to sort of fold like an accordion... long ago, time stretched out before me as long deserts of unknown. But now, looking back, I see my life folding in on itself, and it wasn't so long ago at all; it was practically yesterday. All of it.

So, what happened in 2000 was just... a couple of years ago. Except my children were college age and now they are practically middle age, which makes me -- old. Well, except that in today's world, 60 is the new middle age, so they are still young and I am now middle aged.

Anyway, I, as usual, have digressed.

I was the editor of longest duration for a newspaper that, I am so sad to say, no longer exists. When I decided to leave, the decision was made to sell the newspaper, firing my loyal staff, and ending the success I had created. I was there from 1992 to 2000. It was still early enough in the life of websites that we didn't have one; not a real one. And so there are no digital archives of our newspaper. There is no digital footprint of all my work. The only way to find any of it is to find the stories that were picked up by other newspapers; the most popular being the story of Jeff's bar mitzvah and one on the Pilot Yid website which I am pretty sure no longer exists. There are also a few other of my articles out there, but those two were the most popular. A couple I wrote for Your Church are still floating around, and some of my bar mitzvah stories. But not the newspaper, which I took from a boring "wannabe" to a great little community newspaper.

I'm so glad I hoarded copies. My kids can dump them when I'm gone, but until then, I still have something to hold onto with pride.
