Sammie is Sick
Last night I made steak with Montreal Steak Seasoning, seasoned fries, and salad. It wasn't just any salad, though, it was salad made with endive from our garden! The salads were big and green and bitter. They had also carrot, basil, and green onions. Mine has seasoned basil and oregano vinegar as a dressing. It was perfect. Endive, for those of you who don't know, is an umbrella term for the same kind of lettuce of which raddiccio is a member, you know, bitter curly-leaved lettuces. Anyway, it seems I have a bit more endive than I will be able to use at the rate it's growing, so lemme know if anyone wants some.
Sasha chewed one of my backpack straps into two pieces. Andy is going to try and fix it for me tonight. In general I let her chew on things I don't think will be bad. I guess I always knew she could chew through a backpack strap, but I never expected her to have the attention span to actually do that. Stupid teething puppy.
Sammie is sick. She has been throwing up and has diarrhea. I am worried about her because she is so small, a little dehydration could really hurt her. She has also been losing weight as a result. This has only been going on since last night. She is now 8 pounds. We got her malnourished at 7.5 pounds. I think 8.5 is a good, healthy weight for her, but she was overweight at 9.5 pounds or more for the past couple years. We gave her some soft ocean whitefish food since she has been eating that for years no problem and it might help with dehydration. If she is still sick when I get home, I'll make a vet appointment. I need to make an appointment for Sasha to get her final puppy shots. I could take them both at the same time. I am really worried about my kitty because she's fragile and emotionally dependent on me. Being sick at home without me must be the epidomy of unhappiness for her. Last night she was sick and she stuck very close to me, but would not be picked up due to upset tummy. This morning she would be picked up, so that is a good sign.
Sunday we're doing the India Palace thing. So far is it myself, drspiff and his gal, astrogeek01 and her boy, the Boz, and Milligan. I have to eat well until then. Tonight I am going to back turkey breast then put it on French bread with basil mayo, eat that with potato salad and some carrot sticks. Yum. I made the basil mayo last night.
