You know you're tired when you start to doze off sitting on the john.
I don't know if I mentioned that I'm going to start playing slo-pitch. Well I am, I'm going to join the team my mom plays on. I played my first game last night...which was also the last game seeing as more than half the team will be on holidays for the last two weeks of the season. Oh well, I had a blast and did pretty darned good for a first timer too! I'm very very proud to say that I didn't strike out once. I didn't ever make it to first but I advanced other players on a couple of my hits. Yay for not being afraid of the ball. I played catcher, because I don't have any experience. It's a hard position to play because you play on every pitch, the only other person to do that is the pitcher. Let me tell you I'm a little ball of pain today. Everything hurts, from my abs to my back to my ass but I refuse to take any painkiller. I like after workout ouchies, it's good to be reminded that I worked hard and had fun.
I was talking to my mom afterwards and started thinking about batting principles. Apparently girls are now being taught to hit differently than guys, we're supposed to use our hips rather than our upper bodies to generate power. So I started thinking about it and I think taichi theory will help my batting. After that came to mind I got down in stance and if you bend the taichi rule that says your arms shouldn't actually move/cross your center line swinging the bat is almost like a loose circle. I'm so excited now, I want to go get a bat and a ball and try it out keeping that theory in mind.
Thinking about taichi baseball reminded me of throwing around a football with Kyle one day, he was trying to use taichi to throw the ball further and/or harder. It worked like crap but it was fun trying to bring taichi principles into other things. I think it would be cool to tell Kyle my theories about taichi baseball. He did continue on after I stopped going so he'd might be able to tell me if I'm full of shit or not. Either way it's pretty interesting.
