Suffer the children

The facebook guy created a group supporting the free flow of information on the internet, which is open to everyone.

Naturally, it took it 45 seconds to turn into a rampant cesspool of "LOL COCKS." I am trying hard, against my nature, not to judge or draw conclusions, but I have to admit that most of the idiocy comes from students currently enrolled in secondary education institutions.

But I honestly believe in the virtues touted by the group, so I posted the following. It took literally four seconds for the erudite comments to begin, but for those four seconds there was a single uncorrupted bead of hope on Teh Intarwebs.

TOPIC: Why I Joined This Group

First, I almost didn't.

That's because I read some of the things being said on the discussion board. But I forgive, because after all, the niternet is peopled with individuals as diverse as the colors of he big Crayola box that my parents wouldn't get me.

But I did join, nevertheless, despite the irrelevent discourse about high school students and how Facebook is owned by FOX.

Why?

Because I believe in the spirit in which this group was founded. The Internet should be a pristine river of information and art somehow rising above the follies of the human condition.

I don't expect all of you to understand. In fact, many of you could care less what I think. Probably the only satisfaction I garner from this post is to be the first to say LOL BUTTS on this discussion thread.

But there will be a few of you, oh yes, who will appreciate what I'm trying to say. Maybe you'll write something worth reading on a blog somewhere, or use the internet to host a portfolio, or to post songs so your garage band can gain some notoriety. This group, populated as it is by the dregs of humanity, is really founded for you guys, who believe in what this group stands for: The interconnectedness of people through this wonderful ongoing transfer of data and, more importantly, ideas.

Anyway, I stand by what I wrote. Peace.
