::RhumbaTecH:: Cheap International Calling...

Feb 14, 2006 17:31

Found out about this interesting program called Mino. Apparently it somehow taps on to your GPRS or some internet thing to allow you to make international phone calls for a low price. I am currently using SkypeOut to make my cheap overseas calls. However, the only problem with it is that you will need an internet connection in order to make the calls. With Mino, you just need a phone connection.

Here is some comparison of the rates for Mino VS SkypeOut... Take note that it doesn't matter for SkypeOut where you all from.

Calling from TAIWAN to SINGAPORE(mobile/land)

Mino - USD$0.093 / min (USD$0.042 if calling from land line)
SkypeOut - USD$0.031 / min

Calling from SINGAPORE(mobile/land) to TAIWAN

Mino - USD$0.093 / min (USD$0.042 if calling to land line)
SkypeOut - USD$1.01 / min (USD$0.031 if calling to land line)

End result, SkypeOut still rulez...

However, I feel that Mino is still pretty cool since they offer a free USD$10 trial when you first sign up. Carrying on after that is up to you. They promise better voice quality than from what you get from VOIP/Internet calls. I will give it a try soon once I figure out how to activate the GPRS for my Taiwan Prepaid Card Line.

Also go here in order to see how to use Mino in another country...
