Does anybody know the actual rules of Quidditch? Ya know? The broom riding competitive team game fictionally created for Harry Potter?
Well, while everybody gushes over 'The Goblet of Fire'... I had to satisfy myself by watching the first movie on cable. And then they shows the Quidditch game again. I really think Quidditch is quite a swell game. It's a little like soccer/rugby on broom sticks. There's the element of teamwork required to score the goals and defend it. However what I completely do not understand is the purpose of the seeker. I mean, for each goal scored, it's 10 points. However once the seeker catches the golden thingy, 150 points is scored and the game ends. So... shouldn't the whole freaking team be concentrating on helping the seeker catch that golden flying thingy?
To me, I felt that having the seeker in the game spoils the game in a way. It's like, what's the purpose of fighting so hard to score the goals, when one bugger gets the glory by scoring 150 points by himself and ends it then and there.
I find this an extremely weird concept for a game and that it promotes individualism in the seeker.
