No, alas, I think my ficcing days are over. This was for the 500year_diary Art Exchange. I do this for heavenly_rain, who said this of what s/he'd like to get: "I'm into 4,5,9,10. Currently in a 5 phase... especially if there are other men involved... like Turlough. Also a fan of 10/Master and partial to Jack/Ianto. And Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart." with the highest rating s/he'd like to get being PG13. I feared that my skills weren't up to doing Turlough, so a Five slash with someone else... well, they said they were into ten...

I'm growing more disatisfied with it as a picture. I do think parts of Ten worked out well, but there's still a lot that's shakey, especially of Five. Peter Davison has weird, weird face. I really like it, but it's unusual, and hard to draw. And I made the neck just a little too long. And the hair isn't nearly as good as Ten's - I find it much harder to do a good job with blond. And I screwed up a little on Ten's cheek - I thought I fixed it, but now I think not. He is so terribly thin and boney, though - I didn't realise quite how much until I was staring at him in minute detail for ages.

Still, it's better than the Five/Nine I produced for last year's exchange. I'm glad you thought it was a good likeness. The picture I took Ten from is a few posts back, if you fancy comparing directly.

Direct comparison reveals it to be good. Which image did you use for 5?

I see what you mean about the neck and cheek, but they didn't occur to me until you pointed them out. It's great that you've made progress with your art, and that you can see that progress (always nice when that happens :) ).

For teh lulz, have you seen Photoshop Disasters? Your guys are all anatomically correct, unlike some of the stuff that big agencies with giant budgets bring out (difference in media nonwithstanding). This one really cracked me up.

LOL - thanks for linking me to that. Those are SO FUNNY.

I didn't use a single image as reference, there juat aren't any suitable ones. It's partly because Doctor Who actually got less sexy when he became Doctor (so, for instance, Tegan and Nyssa are covered practically head to toe in Peter's first season, compared to companions like Leela, who was barely waring any clothes to start with (because she was 'primitive' and 'tribal', don't you know), because they were worried what audiences might think was going on in the back of the TARDIS now that they had this handsome young Doctor. It's partly that, but it's also to do with the very different style of filming they used then. It's kind of interesting to listen to the commentaries from that point of view (especially Time Flight, as it's so awful they end up talking a lot more about the technical stuff than the story). Janet Fielding (Tegan), in particular, points out how very 'fourth wall' it all is - it's not just that a lot of the actors were mediocre, working with a bad script and no budget - it looks cheap and tacky to modern eyes because it's so staged. Nobody ever talks over each other (unlike in the very early Doctor Who, of course, where they had the Billy Fluffs because they really didn't have any money) and it's very rare indeed that you see the lead actor's back - he's almost always blocked so as to be face on to the audience. I couldn't even find many profile shots that weren't blurry, it's that way of playing to the fourth wall that just has so deeply ingrained that you must be facing the audience. Sorry - that was probably all very dull and obvious for you, I was just enjoying exploring my thoughts a little.

I was going to upload some of the images I used as a base. but photobucket is misbehaving :o( I may try again in a bit...
