Defending Her Honour

Rage.

That’s what he feels when that slimy git calls her a Mudblood.

He knows Hermione doesn’t need defending, but Ron’s used to sticking up for Ginny, and when Malfoy says those words... something inside him snaps.

He does what any decent friend would do.  He yanks out his broken wand, yelling “You’ll pay for that one, Malfoy!”

Only it doesn’t quite turn out the way he wanted, because he’s thrown backwards, still clutching his broken, malfunctioning wand, only now, he suddenly feels like he’s going to be sick, and -

Ugggh.

Maybe he’ll leave the heroics to Harry next time.
