Setting up a website might be easier and cheaper than you think

With the pending demise of BAM Vid Vault, I think that anyone who is seriously considering paying for dedicated streaming service might want to consider paying for actual webspace instead. Compared to a few years ago, it's actually not that expensive these days for a basic plan. I got set up with my current host for under $70 after coupons for two years. That comes out to less than $3 a month, so you can forgo that latte once a month to cover the cost. :D (Of course, the cost will likely go up to $5 a month after my current contract expires.) You can even split the cost for a site among friends, as I'm sure you'll likely have plenty of webspace to start. Many US-based hosts with these low-cost plans even allow for international customers as long as you have a credit card.

If the idea of coding your own website seems daunting, many webhosts now offer free and easy installation of content management systems like Joomla and Wordpress to make updating your site as easy as updating a blog. With a webhost that allows streaming, you can embed videos to your own LJ or DW. I would suggest that if you don't have a full site set up, that you at least have simple HTML page as a place holder because some hosts might wonder why you're using up so much space with no webpage at all. You also might want to keep an eye on bandwidth usage because even if your plan has "unlimited bandwidth," your host might not be able to keep up with really high traffic.
