The Walking Dead is AMC’s latest original series, based on the comic books of the same name by Robert Kirkman. The series premiered October 31st, 2010 and had the largest viewing audience of any AMC premiere (5.3 million). The show is very similar to a lot of zombie flicks (28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, etc) but it’s different in that it’s more of a drama about the survivors than horror about the walkers.
This is Deputy Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln and shown with Blade). Though the show follows a group of survivors, Rick is the main MC of the show. He’s a good man, an honorable man. Wounded in a shootout, Rick was in a coma in ICU when the zombie apocalypse happened. When he comes to, the world is in chaos and his family is missing. He sets out to find his family and meets up with various other survivors along the way.
This is Glenn (played by Steven Yeun). Glenn is one of a group of survivors that Rick meets in Atlanta; Glenn is largely responsible for helping Rick escape from a horde of walkers. Glenn is one of the youngest of the group but very spunky and intelligent. And he loves his stolen Challenger! ;-)
This is Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus), brother of Merle Dixon. Daryl is one of the main reasons I started watching this show since Norman Reedus is one of my favorite actors. Daryl is an interesting character - his hunting and tacking skills are a huge asset to the group - and, though he first appears in the third episode, he already has a huge fan base!
This is one of the walkers. He was shown quite prominently in the first episode - many people watching wondered if his part was a cameo by someone famous but so far, no one knows who the actor under the makeup is. I call this walker Milo - I just thought he needed a name. After all, zombies were people too.
The Walking Dead airs on AMC Sunday night at 10:00. There are only 3 episodes remaining in this season - you don't want to miss this bandwagon, trust me!!
