Another failed IUD attempt, this one not because of me being teh mentalz and messing up the time, but because my body hates everything in the world

The dilation is the crappy part. Did you adequately pre-medicate before the appointment? What has been going wrong? (If you don't mind me asking. I'm a big IUD proponent, so I care.)
The first time I fucked up the appointment time because my brain's fucked up. So.
They can't dilate in the GP's office, so they didn't. I hadn't been told to take ibuprofen, but I don't think it'd matter, my innards are apparently small and shaped in a way that would require dilation instead of straightforward insertion. [shrugs] It's not that big a deal, it's just me being sick of waiting around.
I thought dilation was sop for women who've never given birth. Pretty sure I needed it, but I also got mine from a ob/gyn not a gp.
I've got wicked high pain tolerance but I still needed to take some advil later on to avoid throwing up. If you're going to need a special visit, it might be worth while to ask about a local anesthetic.
Good luck with it! They're really kind of awesome.
IUDs freak me out, but good luck with that. And with the applications too, I know I'm not looking right now but I certainly remember the sheer suckiness of it.
