The Kittician Adventure - Day 2

Day 2 started slow, with a great scare while we searched frantically for Andy’s cell phone. Thank you Dad, for all the international calls so that we could see if we heard it ringing.
We got up and went to the University, where Andy had some business to take care of. The campus was in a fabulous location, on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
We got some black bean soup, that was more like a black bean bisque, and really kind of gross. Meanwhile, I met a lot of Andy’s classmates and friends. I got a little tour of the campus, while we looked for her roommate to see if she accidentally carried off the phone (she had). I declined the dissection room tour. I did want to see the turtles, but they were all hiding. But the garden of poisonous plants couldn’t hide! Unfortunately, Andy hasn’t had her class that would explain if the whole garden of poisonous plants was poisonous, or if that was just the name. But dangerous plants are very pretty!

We got more food, since the black bean soup wasn’t holding very well, and shared a chicken and rice plate. This began operation “Force Feed Andrea.”

From there we went to the grocery store, so I could witness the outrageous prices! The “Caribbean Diet” sounds like something that you would do that involves eating lots of fruit and fish. In reality, it is starving yourself because you can’t afford to eat. A box of cereal was about $5, and we found some granola that was a steal at about $2.

We went back to her house and played with the puppies a little bit, and killed some time before heading to the beach to watch the Ross Students play volleyball.

When it was time to meet up with everybody, the car wouldn’t start. I tried to tap on the starter, but no luck. So we called some other Ross students, and found somebody to pick us up.

I climbed in the back of a jeep-type thing, and we took off down the island driving on the wrong side of the road. Eventually, we ended up at a strip of beach filled with little shack-like bars, and volleyball nets. It was a great hangout for the Ross Students. The biggest of the excitement was when a volleyball landed in one of the girl’s French fries. She caught it perfectly with the big basket, and ranch dressing flew everywhere.

We sat there until sunset, when it started to get cold, and then went home.

We spent most of the evening making plans for the next couple of days…
