new school, 10K training, Las Vegas

School is good. Being in the classroom again is the most fun, but reading and learning are also somewhat exciting. Nutrition seems to be a good major for me. Everyone in my family is good at solving puzzles, and that seems to be what I'll be doing. It also combines planning and food. I don't see how this could go wrong.

After the 5K, I stopped running. I bought a really good pair of running shoes (my first) with my Christmas bonus, and I'm training to run Texas' largest 10K. Having a goal makes a surprising difference in my approach to running. I never really pushed myself before. Going a short distance was acceptable, stopping just when I felt I'd done enough was the norm. It's funny to think how long it's taken me, in the past, to work up to two miles. I've only been training three weeks, and two miles is no real problem. Running a mile, even on the second consecutive day of running, is a shame. I'm not planning on finishing anywhere in the top half, probably not even in the top three-quarters. But if I can run this thing without stopping, I'll be proud.

Tonight, I depart for a Las Vegas weekend!
