temp work, dog search

Despite the lack of internet, life is good in Austin. This week has been perfectly boring, with regular work and healthy living. It's a very nice way to be.

I quit the job I was working on my birthday. It was somewhat of a rash decision, but a very good one. The employees tended to be hostile toward each other, and the office manager was quite a b-i-s-h (despite always being patient with me). My second assignment was absolutely perfect, and there's the possibility of a permanent job with them beginning next week. My third job, which lasts another ten minutes, has been good but extremely boring. Very nice people, including a few Sooners. Lots of reading, secretly checking email, and searching for dogs.

I want a year-old dog with short hair that's good with dogs and cats and, in the future, children. Preferably male. No hounds, no terriers, no dangerous breeds. There are a few in shelters around town that I'm considering applying through, although the thought of picking up a surprise for my mother on the way to Lawton is pretty appealing.

SXSW is this week? Someone at work said?

And I'm in Oklahoma this weekend, making the trip after a long day of work.
