So I went in two weekends ago to on a Saturday to Zimbrick to get some service done on the Saturn. I was told I had a hole in my muffler and it would need to be replaced. I've had this done twice before and put a lifetime warranty muffler on the first time so I got the second one free. They told to make sure to bring in my warranty receipt to prove it which I did.
I get in and am told it's up to two hours so I'll wait for it. I show them my muffler warranty receipt and they say "great, just save it for when we're done". It ended up taking them three hours because they didn't have the part in stock even after I warned them earlier that they didn't (I had been in a couple weeks beforehand for something smaller and that's when they diagnosed the muffler). But I was in no rush that day so whatever. I sign off on the paperwork that's marked "NO CHARGE" and "WARRANTY" all over it and leave still pretty happy in general.
They call me the following Monday and basically say, "Uhhh...huhuhu...we actually put some exhaust pipe on instead of replacing the muffler cuz that was the real problem. Please come back in and pay us $300". Their only real defense is that the rep supposedly told me at some point that it might need different parts (which I don't remember but I suppose is possible). All the way through the process they mentioned the muffler and reminded me to bring in my muffler receipt. Looking closer at the receipt I signed that day it does say "exhaust pipe" instead of "muffler" but is also marked "NO CHARGE". Had some more important things pop up the next couple days so I did let it slide. Now I get a voicemail tonight saying that if I choose not to pay it, it will go to a collection agency.
I really don't see this as my mistake and I'm also not just trying to get a freebie or whatever but I really think they are the ones that goofed up.
Opinions?
