Least favourite place

The dentist's is fast becoming my least favourite place in the world! Had a minor operation done in my mouth on Saturday to remove a part of my gum that was obstructing the growth of my wisdom tooth. The area had been feeling rather sore over the past week and my throat too was feeling kinda iffy so I thought that I'd better get it checked by my dentist in case it was anything serious. Turned out that the area had become infected because the tooth was pushing at the gum which hadn't fully yet receded. And thus the move to surgically remove that 'flap of gum' (the dentist's words) that was covering the tooth. It was most horrible, and I'm wondering whether Saturday's visit to the dentist was comparable with the time in Paris where the dentist hacked out the caps and bridges of my front teeth without anaesthetic because one of them broke off and, according to him, that was the only way to get them out. Ek. Thinking of that experience now still gives me the shudders.

Couldn't sing for mass on Saturday evening, understandably, because the gums wouldn't stop bleeding. Plus the fact that I couldn't, and still can't, open my mouth any bigger than to allow tiny morsels of food in so that I don't starve to death. To date, I've had mashed salmon with mashed broccoli and potato from Ikea, mashed fish with soup (courtesy of Ben's hard work smashing the fish chunks into bits - I believe he really enjoyed that adventure), mashed hor fun with chicken and vegetable pieces, and lots of porridge. I wonder what else I can mash up for my meals over the next few days.
