I was watching the Discovery Channel yesterday and they were showing a documentary in which a physicist undertook great pains to conduct an experiment about the best method of dunking one's biscuit into a hot drink without it crumbling and falling into the drink. So apparently he concluded that one should dunk the biscuit horizontally such that the flat surface of the biscuit is the one that touches the drink's surface and soaks up enough of it to make the biscuit nice and soft inside as well. He tested his hypothesis on a group of random individuals and it's supposed to have worked!
