It terrifies you, but it's real

Today I went for a walk down town to gawk at the RNC and take pictures! I will probably do that at least one more time once the conventional actually starts. There are probably about fourty something pictures here, so this is so very not dial up friendly.

Xcel Energy Center

Dorothy Day Center

A bit of explanation, the Dorothy Day Center is a homeless shelter run by Catholic Charities. It is right across the street from the Xcel Center. When important national conventions aren't being prepared for, it's pretty common to see homeless people in the parks nearby, either sleeping or just hanging out.

Media

Police

Police are all over the place! Except the intersection where two vehicles blatantly ran a red light. I mean blatant. That sucker was red and had been for a while, this wasn't sneaking across when the light had just switched from yellow to red. The first one was convention worker in a little cart the second was a blue van that did because, I don't know, seeing the convention person made them think it was okay?

Rice Park

I think this is where the Daily Show is supposed to be filming!
