SW: The Clone Wars - w/Screencaps!

And this Mandalorian arc? BEST EVER. FINALLY, we get Obi-Wan's past. And oh, what a past it is!
I called Obi-Wan's previous relationship w/the Duchess from the first line, ie "Far be it from me to keep the Duchess waiting." - I turned to Mark and said "He and the Duchess have a history. You watch." And sure enough.
So, I loved The Mandalore Plot. LOVED the way they played off each other. Her "very proper" demeanor such an excellent match for Obi-Wan, who gets cast in the role of rabble rousing rebel next to the so-very-proper Satine. (Anakin would have a hernia laughing at that.) And as he does with Anakin, when Satine comes to his rescue, he's impatient and cranky with how she goes about it. :)
Then Anakin shows up at the end, and they all take off to escort to Duchess to the Senate. There is simply no way this is not going to be awesomesauce! Obi-Wan confesses to Anakin how tired he is from "the peace loving ways of the locals", meaning Satine, of course. Because being around her again and stirring up all of those old feelings, good and bad, is exhausting, isn't it Obi-Wan?
"Voyage of Temptation". What can I say? IT TOTALLY SURPASSED ALL EXPECTATIONS OF AWESOME!!! Not only do we have the tension mounting between Obi-Wan and Satine, but Anakin's observations, questions, comments, exressions - AWESOME. I knew from the moment they introduced this past of Obi's, they'd be using it as a foil to Anakin and Padme - see, look here, this is how a proper Jedi should react to falling in love. You stick to the code and walk away, and then regret it for the rest of your life! I was so pleased when Obi-Wan said that line "He [Yoda] usually leaves out the undercurrent of remorse [to not forming attachments]."
Of course, that's the irony. The attachment is still there. Just because Obi-Wan chose to stay w/the Jedi all those years ago (and ONLY because she didn't ask him to stay!!) does not mean he doesn't love Satine. He admits he does. Satine admits her love to him, and he tells her how he would've left the Order, with one word from her. Of course, now he won't, because doing so would mean turning his back on the war, and possibly letting people die because he isn't there doing his part. And she, of course, must remain leading her people, and all of the other neutral worlds. (They better not kill her off!!!)
They're making the "right" choice, the one Anakin and Padme didn't. Of course, I don't actually believe that. I think denying the Jedi the right to love and be loved is a ridiculous and stupid rule, and only helps create the situation which leads to their downfall.
Speaking of their downfall, there were a LOT of lovely Vader-isms from Anakin this time around. Throwing his lightsaber, as he does in Empire, and killing the Senator with a lightsaber to the back, with no idea why that might be morally questionable - after all, he's a bad guy. "What? He was going to blow up the ship."
The entire last two episodes were awesome, and the way they're treating Obi-Wan and Satine so far is just lovely. She's a great character, and you can see why Obi-Wan loves her, and vice versa.

Here we have Anakin and Obi-Wan talking about the Duchess.
Anakin: "Oh. So you're close to her. Obi-Wan: "I knew her. A long time ago."
Anakin: *smiles knowingly*
And then later, as Obi-Wan and Satine snipe at one another, Anakin has a drink and watches the show, obviously and thoroughly amused!
Obi-Wan and Satine make a good team.
I somehow failed to screencap it, but another favorite scene is in the lift with Anakin and Obi-Wan. Satine has been taken hostage, and Obi-wan is visibly upset. Anakin asks him "This may not be the time to ask, but were you and Satine ever...?" Obi-Wan: "I don't see how that has any bearing on the situation at hand!"
Avoiding an answer is just as good as saying "yes", Obi-Wan. And from the look on Anakin's face, he knows it, too. (See that?? A CANON intimate relationship for Obi-Wan. Very nice, PTB!
Then, when they exit the elevator:
Anakin: "I'll take care of this, Obi-Wan. You, go find your girlfriend!"
Obi-Wan: "Right. No! Anakin, she's not my...!"
Then later, still a hostage, and thinking she may never see him again, Satine confesses her love for Obi-Wan. When he tries to tell her this isn't the time or place, she gives him this pleading look, and he capitulates.
Satine: "Obi-wan. It looks like I may never see you again. I don't know quite how to say this, but...I've loved you. From the moment you came to my aid, all those years ago!"
Obi-Wan: "Satine. This is hardly the time or place for..."
Obi-Wan: "All right. Had you said the word, I would have left the Jedi Order."
Then, after killing the rogue Senator, Anakin knows he's interrupted a private moment, and does his best to give them an additional moment of privacy, by pretending not to see and shielding his eyes with his hand. Except of course, reality intrudes with some clones, and the Duchess goes back to her duties.
The next time she and Obi-Wan can speak privately, they admit it's hard being the opposite sides of an issue (the war and peacekeeping). She remarks that she still isn't sure about his beard...
Obi-Wan, surprised: "Why? What's wrong with it?"
Satine: "It hides too much of your handsome face."
Can't wait for next week. And to reiterate: they better not kill her off!
You know what would have been even more awesome? Not that they would ever do it on the show, but it would make quite a story to have a Jedi meet up with an old flame like this, only to discover the child he left behind as well. Is he/she Force sensitive? And it they are, does the Jedi "do the right thing" and take the child back to the Jedi temple, or the other right thing, and leave him/her with their mother to be raised? It would make a really interesting dilemma! (Also, Obi-Wan having a child that's Mandalorian royalty would also be awesomesauce!)
