My Lush order came yesterday.
I tried the Daddyo shampoo, and American Cream conditioner in my hair this morning. While my hair is clean, detangled, shiny, and dried with some nice natural wave because there was no heavy film, the underlying baby powder scent of the conditioner is driving me mildly nuts. I'll see if I get used to it, but I may need to switch to something else from them. So far, I like it better than the Aveda products I was using, which left my hair lifeless and dull, and made it oily by midafternoon.
I also cut the Aromaco deodorant bar in half (half to give to me sister to try, and half for me to keep to try.) I used it today for the first time, a little skeptically.
So, something in the genetic body chemistry both Rhien!Sis and I inherited cursed us with rather...strong BO, that most deodorants either don't work for at all, or give up on halfway through the day. I cannot tell you the sheer number of brands I've tried for that all-day freedom from it. To make matters worse, my sis has developed an allergy to something in deodorant. Every brand, even Tom's All Natural, makes her break out in a rash! She was using perfume for awhile, but even that has begun to irritate her skin.
I hope this works for her, I really do. After wearing it for half a day, this is my first impression review:
Holy cow! First off, Patchouli is not my favorite scent in the world. It strikes me as earthy and hippy and reminds me of the burning incense days of my youth. I put it on this morning, wrinkling my nose a little at the scent, and eschewing my usual routine of Secret Powder Fresh a little mournfully. Sure, the Secret doesn't work all that great, but at least the scent is subtle and it kind of works. I was not at all sure this organic product would have the power to work for even an hour for me.
And honestly? At first, it really didn't seem to. We're in muggy warm days here, and by the time I got to work in my non-air conditioned car, a discreet sniff gave me two scents - an unfortunately strong patchouli, and faintly, my body's usual BO. Disappointing.
But a few hours later, I am changing my tune. The longer the day goes on, the softer that patchouli gets, and weirdly, the more effective it seems! If I try really, really hard, I can still smell very faintly my BO beneath that warmer and softer patchouli scent, but it's MUCH fainter than it has EVER been midway through the day, or even as it was this morning! My little sweater jacket doesn't stink of me at all, and only smells faintly of the deodorant - a pleasant, as I said, warm and soft scent that seems to be growing on me by the hour! I'm about to go for my lunchtime walk, so I'll let you all know how it handles that.
Also, the deodorant dried on colorless, so it hasn't stained my sweater white.
I am cautiously optimistic that I may have found something that actually works for me, not to mention for my poor sis. :)
Yay for Lush!
I've recently found out there's a Lush store in Vegas, so you can bet that just got put on the "must see" list while I'm there!
