Oh, I remember what I wanted to post about.  (Ok, so certain members of my f-list can feel free to skip this and/or laugh at me if you wish - you know who you are!)

So, General Hospital has pretty much been rocking lately.

So, how awesome has Steve Burton been lately, or what?  I really haven't been much of a fan of the choices the writers have made for Elizabeth - how selfish do you have to be to ask a guy you supposedly love to give up his child forever for another guy you supposedly love?  - but I am completely sucked in by Steve's performances Friday and yesterday.  Man, when he held that baby for the first time and cried...it didn't hurt at all that he was in his best looking all-black business-for-Sonny ensemble, either. (That he's not doing, because he's at the hospital with Elizabeth and his baby).  Not that I'm shallow, or anything.

I can take or leave the Sam storyline at the moment, but I am so sucked into Jason and Jason/Elizabeth/baby.

And then, when Lucky showed up, and Jason had to hand the baby to him, and listen as Lucky told the kid "I'm your Daddy" - *sniffles*  Elizabeth was also clearly bothered by this, and how much it hurt Jason - I was all but yelling at my screen - "How can you do this to him?!  Tell Lucky the kid's Jason's!!

And then, out in the hallway, Jason's sitting there with his head in his hands, and Lulu comes up, and he's been crying again.  Damn, there is something about an uber-strong guy (who happens to be a hitman for the mob - no theme here or anything) crying, that just gets me.  It reminded me of the scene I wrote in Shadows when Sark finds out Sydney was pregnant and that she lost the baby.  Chokes me all up.

Also, I'm kinda liking the storyline between Lulu and Logan.  Cause it's about time the writers did something cool with her that isn't all about Dillon or the slapstick we've got going with her three admirers.  You know what I like best about Lulu's character?  Well, this goes back to Carly, actually.  Carly is one of those characters that isn't always likeable, yet somehow I DO like her.  I think it's because, no matter how selfish or inane she can get, she would die for her children, and she would kill to protect them, and that comes across in every single thing she does, and I really like that strength.  So even though most of the time I'm not a huge Carly fan (I do like her and Jax, though, a fact which shocks even me), I somehow find myself a huge Carly fan ANYWAY.  It's hard to explain.

Anyway, I really feel the writers and the actress who plays Lulu have done well by her character:

~ Everyone always says how much she looks like her mother, but here's the thing - she actually does.  It was really obvious when they brought Genie Francis back for a few episodes - Lulu really does look a lot like her Mom.

~ I grew up watching the Luke/Laura Frisco/Felicia Anna/Duke/Robert storylines.  I love Luke.  I love how his character has stayed true to form for all these years, and how he's still so Luke even now.  I love how Anthony Geary plays his scenes with Lulu, who clearly, painfully reminds him of Laura so much, making her his favorite child, but also the one it hurts him most to deal with.  It's so beautifully complex and true.

~ When Lulu pulled that scam on Dillon last summer, I was all "blah, teen storyline, whatever".  But I still liked her for being Luke and Laura's daughter, and the fact that the writers actually draw on that history and heritage, and don't forget it as other soaps tend to.  Then, I forget when, but sometime in the last few months, she comes bursting in on Jason to ask for help, freaking out about something, and he looks at her, blinks, and says "You know, sometimes you're a lot like Carly."  And I was all *gasp*  OMG, what a great character moment, for Jason to have that realization and make that comment (he's so observant, it makes sense he would notice), and OMG, it's SO TRUE!  She is TOTALLY like her cousin!  That scam with Dillon was vintage Carly!  And always bursting in on Jason to ask for help (thank God Lulu is not nearly as bad as Carly is at this.)  So again, we have the history and the family relations they're drawing on, and suddenly I'm really, really liking Lulu - she's suddenly a complex character with a lot of baggage (which I suspect is about to get worse), and not just that girl that messed up and had an abortion.

And the storyline with her and Logan?  Eerily parallels the Luke/Laura relationship.  Logan's the bad boy Lulu doesn't much like, yet ends up liking despite that (don't we all??)  Now, they better not revisit ALL of Luke and Laura's history with this, cause I never really agreed with how Laura's rapist became her One True Love.  but those were different times and all.  Nowadays, such a storyline would be unforgivable.  Still, I'm happy to watch Lulu/Logan play out (it's even another L/L combo -could the writers be any more obvious?)

Hmm.  I so need a GH icon or two.
