Degrees of spirit

Ok, so Evil!Manager who isn't really a manager anymore because he's been stripped of all true repsonsibility, yet somehow still has a job and can still give me crap work tasks to do, facetiously called me a "Princess" this morning with this kind of smug smirk that made me want to commit oni kudaki on him, but alas, they'd probably call that assault.  And I might damage my costume.  Jerk.

Then my friend L called me with the most amusing, delightful story to cheer me up.  She of course, like me, is dressed up for work today.  She drops her son off in the mornings at his school (second grade).  Well, she only had her costume about half on - she was wearing a sweater that covered most of her pink and silver dress, cause it's chilly this morning, no mask, no wings, just her crown.  Well, all these little seven-year-old girls in her son's class took one look at that crown and went absolutely ape shit.  L was like "Seriously, I thought they were going to bum rush me."  All she could hear was this cacophony of sound with bits like "Crown!" and "Princess!" and "That's Gabriel's Mom!"

She  claims to have barely escaped with her dress and life intact.  I believe her.  Ah, I know I've succeeded at something right when something like that happens.  *is content*

My cloak clasp is coming off, and I don't have any thread/needle at work.  I'll have to go get some on break, cause we're having games and stuff this afternoon that I must be wearing my cloak for.  (Dude, even though me and one other person are the only two people out of 80 that have dressed up today.  Well, and Dave, if you count his claim of "I'm a construction worker."  Dave is a pipe fitter.  His jeans, boots, and Carhartt coat are what he wears everyday.  But at least he's claiming to wear a costume.  Everyone else are a bunch of no spirit losers.  I mean, we're having the afternoon off for games and celebration, and no one dressed up!)   Anyway, the cloak clasp is my fault - I'm a novice at sewing, and my hand stitch job sucked.
