Not enough coffee in the cosmos!

Oh, God.  So so so so so so tired.

Just when I thought the late nights/into the wee hours of the morning string of nights was over....Mark didn't get home from hunting until 12:30 last night, and what with one thing and another, we didn't get to bed until after 2:00.  OMG, 6:00 came way, way too early this morning.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to be the only person at work to dress up tomorrow.  I don't care, it's Halloween!

Speaking of which, a slightly more detailed recap of the masquerade evening than my last post provided:

L finished sewing the trim on my cloak an hour before the event.  I told her not to worry about it; the cloak didn't absolutely have to have trim.  The response she had to this was, essentially, "Do you seriously think I'm not going to put this on, after all the trouble we went to to find this trim?!"  Yeah, she did it anyway.

And I can't really talk, given how I spent the two hours between work and the event - making a matching headpiece/crown for my mask.  Which turned out better than it had any right to, given the amount of time I was working in.

The cloak clasps I made worked great, so if we continue with our diabolical plan to have a booth at next year's Ren Faire, (My jewelry, L's cloaks) I will be making more.

So, anyway, we arrived at the masquerade.  There were probably about 60 people in attendance (we're not a hoppin' metropolis here) most of them in costume, most of the costumes rented.  L's handiwork garnered awed looks and lots and lots of compliments, followed by double takes when she or I would add  "...and she/I made all the jewelry."  Inevitably followed by the question, "Even the masks?"  "Yep.  Would you like a business card?"  I gave out several.  We'll see what happens, if anything.

After the movie, a big group of us walked down three doors to this local pub with a dinner area and bar/pool table area.  We ate dinner, then went over to order drinks and play pool (L and I had promised each other drinks when we were up sewing late one night).  We were the only ones dressed up in the place, getting us some looks and a couple of questions to the effect of "There's a Halloween party somewhere?  Where??"  Alas, we dashed their hoped by explaining about the masquerade, but assured them that if they heard about a party, they should find us and tell us.

Highlights of the evening:

~ Some guy snapped a pic of L's sister's decolletage with his cell phone.  She was not pleased.

~ We were bought drinks simply by virtue of being the only ones there in costume. :D

~ A v. cute young man who looked about 19, but had to be at least 21, scoped me and my costume out at the bar, noticably enough to get me teased by my so called friends.  I suppose it's flattering at 32 to be noticed in such a way by someone at least a decade younger, but in some respects, it made me feel my age.

~ We stayed until the place closed, then went back to my house and stayed up another hour to watch the newest ep of BSG. Because God knows, sleep at this point in our week was so overrated.

All in all, a fun night.  Not sure it was worth the hours (and hours) of frustration, but I'm sorta hoping other opportunities (perhaps next year's Writer's Weekend Banquet?) will arise for me to utilize the full costume.  And I get to wear it again tomorrow. :D

I have a whole 'nother post about the RPG session we did the next night for L's birthday, but I think I'm too tired to type that much coherently at the moment.  This is going to be a really long work day.
