Fair enough. I don't want to argue for Republicans in all matters, that's for sure... ... but I will say that many conservative minded people and groups believe very strongly in helping poor and powerless people both through giving but also through teaching and training... When people in my community need food and coats they're not knocking on the doors of political action commitees or the ACLU. They're calling my church which I'm proud to say runs a food pantry and help folks get transportation, jobs and childcare when we can on top of food or clothes to help people get by. It's a Biblical principle that we believe in strongly and follow.

I really think both the democrats and republicans are pretty corrupt and neither really represent my beliefs 100%. In fact, I have a hard time distinguishing the Rs from the Ds these days... except whether their pro-choice or pro-life it seems. They waste the same and use all the same scare tactics to further their own motives instead of doing what their elected to do...

I think my problem is I am just extremely not extreme. I am a really moderate person and I wish I didn't have to have radical views one way or the other to be involved in the discussion. I think a problem we have on the larger stage is that we have a lot of pundits on TV yelling about things far to the left or far to the right of where 'joe schmoe' really lives. I think there's a large majority of people that may or may not identify as conservatives and liberals whose real life beliefs are closer to each other than yelling TV pundits would like us to believe...
