back up on the soap box

I have said it before and I will just quickly repeat myself. Please inform yourself and vote tomorrow. Voting is our right, privilege and our responsibility. Please take the time to carefully and seriously consider those who represent you and prayerfully cast your ballot tomorrow.

I'm not generally one to give a political opinion... Really I'm not... but if you vote in J. Dingell's district for God's sake please consider if someone who has served for 56 years and is the venerable age of 84 and who hasn't lived in this state since he was a preteen is the proper representative of the 15th district of Michigan... I think he has done some good things in his time in office (in 56 years of shooting you have to hit the target once in a while)... He championed the do not call list and has fought to preserve Michigan's natural habitat and environment (He's strongly against importing garbage in to Michigan)...

My issue is more to do with the fact that I strongly believe there should be term limits in the House and Senate. They won't vote this in for themselves, but I feel strongly that an 84 year old with over 50 years in Congress and living in DC is not in touch with the needs and issues of his or her constituents back here in Monroe or Ann Arbor Michigan and I hate the fact that he's going to get voted in on name recognition alone... again... for the 27th or 28th time. When he does pass away they could run a marionette with his name and it'd win. Hell, they could just keep his website going and people would probably vote for him posthumously and that makes me upset because it shows people aren't thinking - they're just doing what they've always done...

Sigh... I'm trying not to feel completely disinfranchised with this mid-term... Trying... not sure I'm succeeding...
