I wasn't paying quite enough attention, and the 10-year anniversary of my LJ slipped right past me last week. TEN YEARS. Crazy. I've never been a journaler, so I certainly didn't expect to stick with this that long. Initially it was a crossover to keep in touch with folks from
rmt-a (some of whom are still on here and still friends), then I slowly began to find my friends from college. Then there was the wave of "random people in Bloomington whom I've never met and don't know" friending me, but it was long time before I was comfortable with people I actually knew in real-life Bloomington finding me here. LJ, at the right time, hit the perfect storm of social networking, safe/filterable venting space, and long-distance contacts with old friends, and I guess that's why I've stayed. A lot of folks have left, and I don't post here nearly as often as I used to, and I keep a lot more stuff to myself than I used to, but I have so much history here that I stick around.
