Happy Reformation Day! It's the 491st anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing of his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg and the birth of Protestantism, not to mention the whole German chorale tradition.
(I really wanted to find a pic of the Simpsons miniature version of this deed from the "Genesis Tub" segment of Treehouse of Horror VII, but alas, my Google-fu was not strong enough.)
What? I figured everyone else has covered the Happy Halloween and Happy/Merry Samhain wishes. ;)
On that note, I recommend listening to Anything Ghost's
Halloween episode. Normally they keep to a strict format of first-person true experiences, but for this episode, they opened it up to also include folklore, urban legends, and even some dramatized fiction. All of which makes for a good collection of spooky stories!
I didn't make it downtown for the Zombie Lurch last night-- was just too tired after dance class. I did spy a zombie in McDonald's, though. (But honestly, wouldn't brains have more nutritional value than a double Quarter Pounder with cheese?)
Speaking of costume parades, my dad sent me photos of the Nephewt dressed up as a giraffe at a community Halloween parade last weekend. Omgsocute.
On the docket for today is grocery shopping and preparing for tomorrow's Samhain rite with the grove. I'm also trying to decide whether I want to go to African dance class tonight, or go to the Samhain rite at the UU church... sometimes it's nice to be able to just show up at a ritual and have no predetermined responsibilities for it.
