Hello folks,
Samhain is coming!
For Samhain, Black Bear Protogrove and friends are going to co-create a sacred place in the forest where members of the Bloomington Community can come to remember/renew their connections with the land and with their ancestors. Samhain is a good time to work with this type of sacred space as it is a time when the veils between physical and spirit worlds is thinnest.
We wish to provide a nurturing space with many opportunities for us all to create or flow. Drumming, dancing, singing, and physical offerings will be among the many ways we can nurture ourselves and give praises to the spirits.
There will be a shrine for the Nature Spirits, one for our Ancestors, and one for the Gods, Goddesses, and Spirit Guides of those in attendance. We will invoke The Earth Mother and Cernunnos to help us remember our connections with and give praises to our ancestors and beings of nature. We will be setting up the space and lighting the fire near sunset and our sacred center (tree, well, fire) will be renewed several times through the evening, going until the sun rises in the morning.
We will gather at 4:30 pm on Saturday October 29th at the same site that we did spring equinox and summer solstice - in the Hoosier National Forest along the road to the Maumee Scout Camp.
After the ritual we will have a potluck feast, so bring a dish if you wish. Other things to bring if you wish include: offerings to the gods and spirits, a drum, and a lawn chair to sit on.
If you have desires to participant in the setting up of the space, or want to learn about or work with the spirits ahead of time please send me an email. You are welcome to help with shrines either day of or before. Creative ways of honoring the tree, well, or fire, and other creative contributions are encouraged day of or ahead of time. If you'd like to help out, email us at blackbeargrove@yahoo.com.
