I have a Lj question...

Apr 01, 2008 20:11

is there any way to block someone on LJ? So that they can't send you messages, in addition to them already not being your friend?

Why don't people understand that no means no?

ETA: I am successful!!! There's an admin console that you can completely ban someone from commenting and sending messages and friending you! Awesome! I win! No mas!

Well, you can ban them from your journal, if that's what you mean

will that make it so that they can't send you messages?
Not comments, but messages?

What kind of messages? If it's like, IM, you might have to ban them separately.

lj now has an internal email-like message thingy. So through lj, I can send you a private message and it isn't through the chat. I can send you an email, basically through the lj intranet, if that makes sense. I didn't even know that this was an option until someone (I know and like) sent me a message.

Hmmm, maybe I'll send ya one, so you'll know what I'm talking about...

she sent me a message on Lj. I haven't read it. I really meant that I was done. I don't understand what else she feels that she needs to say that she couldn't have gotten out during the 2+ hours of my time she wasted today. She had her chance earlier - I told her no more contact and that if she stayed away from me that there wouldn't be any problems. I told her that I would stay away from her - she's already violating the restraining order. No mas. No want. She crazy.

Nope. Sorry. I deleted. It's done. No more.

Again, if she didn't get out all that she needed to say with all the time I gave her today, then she's missed the boat. She's the one that basically shut down the talking, so whatever it is she'll just have to eat it. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to go on that would make me give her the benefit of doubt in regard to the content of the message she sent, so I'm stopping it here. She's of no consequence to me and I won't comment on anything she posts from here on out. No worries. It's over. And she's now banned from my LJ, so she can't even send me messages or comment on anything that I post.

When you click the "delete comment" link next to one of the person's comments, the popup will contain two more options: a checkbox for "ban [user] from commenting?" and "mark this comment as spam?" If you check the box to ban someone from commenting they can still look at your public entries but they will be unable to comment on them. It will not, however, prevent them from replying to comments you make in other people's LJs or posts you make in a community, unless said person is also banned from that community.

Hope this helps!

That does help! I still need a remedy for the lj messaging option. She sent me a message. I need for her to not be able to do that. I can't find a clear-cut way to do it.
