First, car troubles, a couple of weeks ago now. Completely dead battery for no reason type troubles. Long story short, my hubby replaced the alternator last summer and one nut wasn't quite tight enough so the battery wouldn't charge at low RPMs, so city driving wouldn't charge the battery. Hence randomly dead battery over the past year. Once every couple of months. Hubby found the problem and tightened that one nut that was causing all the problems. Car runs great now, no more discharging battery. YAY!
Now, I have a tooth that I've known that would need a root canal for a little while. Well, over the weekend an abscess formed in the gum around the tooth (OWWW!) and was causing random high fevers. Tuesday it drained a little bit on its own, and my mouth felt a lot better. The right side of my face was still swollen enough people would notice, but Wednesday I had the root canal. My mouth feels so much better, and the swelling is gone since the Endodontist was able to clean out the abscess completely. I'm on a run of nice heavy-duty antibiotics to prevent it from coming back, and if I do notice anything, to call the doc and she will call in some more antibiotics to make sure my gums don't get re-infected. I pretty much slept all of Thursday and woke up after hubby had cooked and cleaned up from dinner. He tried to wake me, but just let me sleep since I was so tired. When I did wake, at least the leftover spaghetti in the refrigerator was still warm and the fresh bread from the bread machine was just as tasty as if it had just come out of the machine. I have such a wonderful hubby.
Tuesday I signed the contract for modeling at the Art Department of UAH for the summer mini-semester. I'm contracted to work 10 days, and there are another 10 days in the semester that are open. The Department Secretary is looking for a different female model and/or a male model for some of those days, so the students have someone different to work from, but at the moment I'm the only model who is able to work the odd hours (4 hours a day, 4 days a week) required. I may get up to 8 of those 10 remaining days. *fingers crossed* I start on this upcoming Tuesday, so good timing on getting the dental work done,
That's the quick, not very detailed version of what's been going on. I'm glad I'll have the weekend to rest and get ready for work next week. Not that the modeling I'll be doing is physically difficult - reclining in a chair/on pillows/whatever the instructor comes up with isn't hard. Holding the pose then getting back in the exact same pose after a break or the next day is hard. But I've done it before so I know I can do it. And the pay isn't too bad, either.
ETA - For the root canal work, I had to drive to Birmingham to go to an Endodontist who would take my insurance. None of them in Huntsville would. So I had a nice day out of the house, was able to see parts of Birmingham I'd never been to since I usually blow through the city on my way elsewhere, and had a nice late lunch in Decatur and crossed the Tennessee River there to avoid construction on the other only bridge across the Tennessee River on I-65. There was a 2 mile back-up when I went down to Birmingham, and I didn't want to find out how long it was in mid-afternoon.
Also, Monday we had a round of very strong to severe storms move through which knocked out the power to the house twice - once for about 10 seconds (just long enough to for the electronics to really hate the quick off/on), then for about an hour which had us and my neighbours debating getting our generators out (almost everyone has one after the Tornado Outbreak of April 2011 where we lost power for 5 days).
It's been an interesting week so far. I'm tired of interesting; I'd like boring for the rest of this week.
ETA 2 -
adafrog, I'm finishing up your SGA prompt. I should have it up soon. :)
