Well, in spite of the weather, I made it home alive today.  I ended up getting to work about 20 minutes early this morning because traffic actually co-operated fairly well, so I decided to leave work early.  That was a really good thing, because when I was within half a mile of the interstate exit I get off on to go home (so about five minutes from ( Read more... )

aah, you got caught in that downpour too? I had to load groceries in it, which was NOT FUN.

but I know what you mean - I think i'm at least passingly familiar with the area you're talking about, and it is sort of upscale, isn't it?

have fun at work tomorrow!

Yes, I was trying to gather all my bags and get out of the car to run into the house while in a skirt and heels. Not fun.

Yeah, it's the upscale area, where the stadium is and the museums and stuff. Pretty posh, but a bit of a pain.

keep flipflops in your car for situations like this?

No, but it wouldn't have mattered. I had on hose and the only flip-flops I own cost about fifty bucks and are leather, so I wouldn't wear them in the rain. Fortunately, it was only about five feet to get into the garage from my car, and I did have an umbrella. Of course, during all this, while I'm trying to get all my stuff from the backseat without getting out of the car and then opening the back door, I accidentally press one of the lock/unlock buttons on my key, and the car starts this constant beeeeeep until I can shut the door, which I can't do because my arm holding the umbrella is already out!

Ouch. Yeah, if I had left at my usual 5 time, I might have only got home a little bit ago, too. I got lucky today. Also, knock on wood, I haven't ended up with a migraine from this yet. Hope yours goes away with that Ben and Jerry's (what flavour?).

Ooh, I love Half-Baked. I have a pint and a half of Chocolate Therapy in the freezer right now. It's chocolate ice cream with swirls of chocolate pudding and bits of brownie mixed in. Yum. (Man, now I've got an ice cream craving.)

Chocolate therapy is good, but it's a little TOO much chocolate for me at one time. Phish Food is another fave.

Oh, Phish Food was my original fave, what I used to get from the Scoop Shop on Main Street when I was in college. We would walk there from campus...it only took two minutes.

Lowes Foods is having a 3/9.99 sale, so I figured it was worth it. Plus, dad made me go grocery shopping after work for him, so it was my "tax".

Yeah, I tend to use those shopping trips to buy myself some things, too. ;)

If he ever asks, I'm going to justify by saying: "Well, personal shopping is 4.95 an order with Lowes to Go, so it's easier than making change for a 5," but since mom does the bills and we have an understanding, I doubt I'll ever have to.

Heh, that's a good one. Your dad is probably like mine and doesn't actually know how much groceries cost anyway.

oh, he knows. this is the man who has real dreams of being a slum lord.

Lol, my dad is always so surprised when he sees how much things cost. He works from home all the time and Mom and I do the grocery shopping, so he rarely sees how much an item costs, which is good because almost everything we buy is organic.
