I have got to learn not to look at other people's Facebook walls. One of my FB friends had a thing from an animal adoption place, something like Rescue Animals from Death Row. They try to get animals fostered/adopted or get people to sponsor the adoption fee before the animal is euthanized (such a pretty way to say gassed to death). There was this picture of a really adorable little kitten, and it was 'Unknown'. He didn't even get a name. No one sent money or adopted him, and he arrived at the shelter on March 30. If they couldn't get money or adoption before midnight today (i.e., this morning), he would be euthanized. It just hit me so hard that that animal I was looking at right then had probably been killed this morning.
My mom and I worked for several years for our county's Humane Society, and it was the recipient of animals rescued from the shelter, which killed any not 'selected' to go to the Humane Society. So I knew that's what happens. But, it was just so damn awful. I'm really sensitive to stuff like this, and now I can't stop crying. Gah. And now I can't breathe through my nose, either.
I just. He didn't even have a name.
