. . . good lord, that was some hilariously beautiful crack.
So you know an episode based on the story of
Momotarou cannot possibly be anything less than crack, right? I mean seriously, giant peach floating down the river, hatching a boy who magically ages to about the age of twelve in a day? Total crack.
. . . especially when he thinks Akashi and Eiji are his mother and father. (Okay, so he calls them aunt and uncle, but STILL. Akashi with one of those baby-carrying harnesses and Eiji pushing around a stroller, bickering like an old married couple? BEAUTIFUL. And Akashi gets peed on. Yes, I'm twelve.
The rest of the team's reactions to this are comedy gold, as is Akashi's insane crying in the river at the end when Tarou goes away.
By far, though, my favorite bit is when Eiji declares that they're going to go off and back up Tarou when he confronts the Quester!Oni, and play all the parts from the story. Masumi and Natsuki as the dog and pheasant, Souta as the monkey, and Sakura . . . as the rice dumplings. Her facial expression when they show up in front of Gai and Rei and declare the roles they're playing is just . . . OMG, hee.
I so love this show.
*waits for next fansub impatiently*
