Ive spent the past few days working outside. Helping mum try to tame the backyard. I smell of sunscreen & dirt. Yum.
When we first moved here, it was a desolate plot of desert (I kid you not, I should dig up the pics from when we first moved in). Kev playing back there with the hose revived some icky weedlike grass. Then this seasons rains hit. These odd weeds literally sprang up overnight and blanketed our backyard. Two to three feet high.
So, we've cleared out most of those..and layed down seed and yummy manure/fertilizer. Birds proceeded to devour most of the seed. Any survivors should be sprouting up in the next day or so.
What truly bites about the soil in the backyard is that most of it is infused with clay. So last year any attempts to water it resulted in rock hard ground after a day in the sun. Hopefully this grass thing works. Why let a huge backyard go to waste? Mum kinda needs a decent yard to thrive. She's even making tenative plans for a tomato garden.
Yay, what an update. xD
