insomnia

About an hour ago I got in bed and was all yawny.  I could barely pay attention to my TV.  As soon as I turned the TV off and laid down, I was wide awake.  This entry is entitled insomnia, but it is really about more than that.  My body has very strange ideas on when it is a good time to get sleepy.  Sometimes I wake up anywhere between 2 and 4 and ( Read more... )

could it have something to do with caffine? or what times you eat? if you have coffee in the late afternoon, that'll obviously affect your sleepiness, and if you eat after a certain time in the evening (different for everybody, i expect) that might cause you to lay awake too. these are both silly answers you have probably already considered though ( ... )

I often fall asleep with the TV on, but it has to be something I want to watch. Otherwise, I lie there thinking about how much I hate the program. I don't drink nearly as much coffee as I used to, and sometimes I take a nap after I have a coffee. I've tried hypno-relaxation tapes in the past as well as "Sounds of the Rain Forrest" kinds of tapes. The hypno-relaxation tapes are pretty good but after you've memorized the guys spiel it gets comical. The rain forrest/beach sounds tapes will lull you almost to sleep then the asshole recording it decides to hit the seagull or horny monkey button and it jarrs me awake again. (swish...wash...swish...wash...KA-KAW-KA-KAW) Thanks a lot asshole. My bed is quite comfy, hence the reason I didn't go to Hattiesburg Friday night. I've tried the sleep masks too. Reading tends to knock me out, but I hate to start reading unless I can make it to a stopping point that makes sense. Sometimes digestion makes me sleepy and sometimes it keeps me awake. Strange. I think I'll go get another Tums.

hmm. well, sure your bed is comfy compared to a couch or recliner. but seriously, maybe the tempur-pedic (or just-as-good rip off) would help. it wouldnt hurt to try would it?

sleep clinic? I won't even go to a chiropractor. When are you going to a psychiatrist again? Right before I go to a sleep clinic, and after I seek the help of clergy.

Considering how I feel about clergy, I imagine you would be giggling. Of course if you didn't get the joke you're probably pissed. Perhaps I should explain. In order for me to go to a sleep clinic, I would first have to seek the council of a priest, THEN you would seek the council of a psychiatrist. Those two things are never going to happen, therefore I will not be going to a sleep clinic.
