Okay, so a few years ago I saw this film with my dad, Strange Days... It was okay. Ralph Fiennes was pretty cool. Angela Bassett was gorgeous. This chick playing the love-interest, though, this Juliette Lewis, she left me totally cold. I thought she was insipid at best, and it kinda ruined a lot of the movie for me...
Then, a few years later, I finally get around to seeing Natural Born Killers, and I don't know whether it was the writing, the direction, the friggin' AWEsome chemistry she had with Woody Harrelson, or some combination of the three, but... Well, I thought she was totally rad...
I've seen her in a few things since then, and its been kind of a mixed bag, but somewhere in there she gained a little soft spot in my heart, so when I heard yesterday that her band was coming to the Drunken Unicorn, and I had a good chance of getting in free, I got pretty damned excited...
I did not get excited enough. That woman can ROCK. She's somewhere between Janis Joplin and Concrete Blonde, but harder and with a dash of Nick Cave thrown in. She grabs rock n roll by the balls, gives it a squeeze and then says, "aw, baby, let's love it out..." and gets all soft and sweet on it... Fuck, yeah! If you ever have a chance to see her, GO! But be prepared, you're gonna fall in love.
