K'tyr has decided that I should not be allowed near one of the Tauri "craft stores." Ever again. Honestly. How was I to know there would be such interesting items there? A hot glue gun? I could have used one of those a time or two back on Montrosia. I always had to melt it myself in a pot on the stove. Never let it be said I don't appreciate things the Tauri have managed to create. Especially Pepsi, even if K'tyr insists upon reminding me--loudly--she finds it to be one of the vilest things ever created. "Do you know what's in this?" she asks. Yes, I've read the label. Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, carmel color, sugar, phosophoric acid, caffeine, citric acid, natural flavors. Nothing K'tyr can't handle.
But back to the craft store incident. Dr. Jackson asked that I accompany him on a trip to said store, as he had been "roped into" helping Samantha Carter with a project of some sort, one that required him to purchase some small paint brushes, the kind used in delicate work. I was surprised by the invitation, but he said a woman's opinion would have been appreciated. I suspect I was the first he came across, but as the SGC doesn't allow me to venture outside of the base unescorted due to my status as a host, I take any opportunity I can to get out. There, I found the glue gun. And decorative jewels. I wasn't sure what I could do with them, but they caught my attention, so I bought them.
Later, back at the base, I was pulling out my ribbon device, an older model (but it works, which is really the point) to ensure it had survived the trip from the Tok'ra base intact. I'd have done it sooner, but I've had higher priorities--as you can imagine, a ribbon device does not get a lot of use on the base. I have a different model, still effective but not as streamlined in its design as the traditional ribbon devices, and I suppose you can say inspiration struck as to how I could make use of the new jewels I'd come across.
The photographic evidence is below, look if you dare. Sure, the jewels are fake, but the truth is, so are a lot of the ones the Goa'uld use.
The pictures are far from perfect, I'll admit, but I had to use the camera one-handed. K'tyr's more coordinated when it comes to that sort of thing, but she refused to come fore and help me out. She claimed she wanted nothing to do with it.

Dr. Jackson saw the device later, and he at least shared my amusement. He laughed, telling me, "You know what they say...it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that bling."
I still have no idea what he meant by that, but I'm getting used to that sort of thing.
