Slash fans, what is your preferred term for that part of the anatomy frequently featured in m/m sex scenes that is not the throbbing jade tower of desire?

Yeah, context makes a huge difference to me, too! Anus and ass have both worked for me in scenes they seemed to fit. Maybe it's context more than anything, really... although some terms are just never okay.

Historical terms can be very effective in terms of setting the scene, but depending on which ones they are, they can also make the sex less sexy for me as a reader. Prick - hm, that one I'm undecided about. ;-)

if I analyze that too much I fear that makes me a prude

Not at all - at least, I certainly don't think so! It's a vocabulary thing, IMO, because there's a danger of not being sexy when using the wrong term. Avoiding the use of any term at all is often a good strategy, as long as it doesn't get obvious.

(But, ack, I hate 'cum-hole', and indeed anything that involves 'cum'. I think some authors like to use it in an attempt to achieve grittier, dirtier and more visceral sex scenes, but to me, it inevitably reads vulgar in an entirely non-sexy way. And now I feel like a prude. *g*)

ETA: I'm very glad I could brighten your day a little by making you think about pink twitching love-holes! :-) I hope it looks up soon in other respects, as well...
