Dangerous Umlauts...

I've just read a story that referenced Mozart's aria "Im Möhrenland gefangen" - or, in English, "Imprisoned in the Land of the Carrots".

What a difference a letter makes. Though really, I like to think that Mozart would indeed have written this aria, if only it had occurred to him. ;-)

LOL! That would make for an awesome plot, I bet. :-)

Wouldn't it? *g* There is endless plot potential! And this opera could go so many ways, depending. Are the protagonists bunnies? Or tomatoes? Or tomato farmers? Or...?

My money is on a very thin courgette, and a very thick asparagus, and they have to try to fit in and pretend to be carrots...

A most excellent plot! And think of all the double entendres this cast will allow Mozart to get away with. ;-)

If anyone wrote it, it would be Mozart!

Yep, sounds like something that would be right up his alley. Plus, the shape of carrots does lend itself to a certain category of humor that no doubt would also have appealed. ;-)

Isn't it? I really wish the entire vegetable opera would be discovered somewhere!

Is it actually a "Bildungslücke" if I don't know the original opera? I feel very bad about this :(

With the vegetable opera, you could have the carrots first on stage, and later make a good stew out of them ;)
