I hear the show isn't doing terribly well in the ratings, which is a shame.

Most people probably have the same issues with the show as I; it’s not bad but also not terrible interesting /innovating.

I do want to love the show, really, but so far it hasn’t impressed me very much. The depicted future looks promising and interesting, sure, but the plot is pretty bland and so is John Kennex. Karl Urban, who plays John can usually act (and I love him), but it doesn’t feel like he is delivering John very well. Due to lack of connection to his character or bad writing, I can’t tell. Maybe it has also to do with the fact that Michael Ealy delivers a fantastic Dorian; he plays everyone against the wall and is stealing the show with his performance. I wasn’t prepared for that but I love it.

I agree with you on Detective Stahl, why does the only other female cop (besides kick-ass Captain Maldonado) has to be beautiful and fashionable?

I’m not giving up on the show; it shows far more potential than Agents of Shield and maybe in a few episodes it’s going to be great scifi TV.

I agree that it isn't innovative in terms of what has been done in scifi before, but even so, I find it an interesting (though not new) concept that has a *lot* of potential left to explore. And a TV series format offers a great platform for exploring some aspects of the concept in depth.

I'm not the right person to argue that it's an impressive show; as of yet, I don't think it is particularly impressive, either. I do think it has potential. What it does with it... I'm more optimistic than not right now.

Yes, Dorian's actor is by far the better one so far (I also quite like the actors of Rudy and Captain Maldonado). John is a fairly "flat" character right now, which makes sense given his backstory and trauma, but I do hope we see some more from him soon, too.

(This actually reminds me of Grimm. It took me forever to make up my mind on whether or not the main character's actor could act on that show, too. *g*)

I could deal with beautiful (not like John and Dorian are slouches in the looks department) if she weren't so clearly styled to be An Attractive Woman rather than a cop.

Here's hoping! :-) It isn't there yet, but a slow build isn't necessarily a bad thing.
